True Story of a Man and an Eagle

Freedom the eagle came to a young man named Jeff 10 years ago as a baby with two broken wings. Emaciated and coverred with lice, she coiuld not stand. Jeff took her to a vet, who performed surgery on the broken wing, and Jeff sstayed by her side while she recovered. For six weeks, he tube fed her and talked to her, urging her to live.

Though improved, she still could not stand, so the vet recommended euthanasuia if she could'n stand in a week. When the fateful day arrived, Jeff took her in her carrier to the vet, placed it on the counter, and suddenly she stood. She was ready to live, and his eyes misted with tears of joy.

As she would never be able to fly, Jeff glove trained her.

In the spring of 2000, he was diagnosed with strage 3 lymphoma and suffered through eight months of chemo.

At the end of the treatments, he learned the cancer was gone.

When he greeted Freedom, she somehow knew. She looked at him and wrapped both her wings around him where he could feel them pressing on his back. With her beak, she touched his nose and stared into his eyes.Jjeff says, "I never forget what an honor it is to be so close to a magnificent spirit like Freedom.
